RRX Network IX
The ability to provide a choice of transit providers is often
to some degree blocked by the requirement for copies of particular virtual
route forwarding tables, to be present in the transit port logic of classical
routers.
RRX Network is investigating mechanisms for dynamically allowing packet
traffic to take a policy determined route, from the perspective of transit
agreements, in the context of an Internet transit exchange (IX or TX).
A
next generation router design
recently under development might facilitate multiple copies of virtual
forwarding tables, and also provide reporting, for traffic accounting, facilitating
reciprocity agreements based on net flow.
It should be noted this arrangement depends to a great degree on ability
to track, and accumulate statisitics reliably, on network flows.
